The Galerie du Château d'Avenches welcomes Jeanne Schmid for a multifaceted exhibition.
Trained at the HEAD/ESAV in Geneva, Jeanne Schmid is a versatile artist. Initially a sculptor, after a serious accident she returned to art using multimedia techniques (photo, video, audio) - techniques that later supported her pictorial and sculptural research. For the last fifteen years, she has been pursuing an artistic approach with ecological connotations, focusing her work on the use of sustainable, non-polluting materials.
This exhibition will reflect her varied talents. The works, some of which were produced on site in 2024, will be displayed thematically, using natural materials and mineral colours as a common thread: paintings on canvas and paper using pigments, inks and ‘homemade’ colours, charcoal drawings, sculptures made from paper pulp or vegetable paste enriched with earth and stone powders, etc.
Jeanne Schmid has taken part in numerous exhibitions, residencies and artistic projects in Europe. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the Musée de Montreux.
Opening: Saturday 26 April at 5pm in the presence of the artist, who will be introduced by Marcel Burger, founder of A côté de cela, Geneva.
