The Galerie du Château is delighted to welcome these two artists for a rich exhibition combining inks, monotypes, paintings and engravings.
Odile Gauthier was born in Fribourg in 1956. She left her literature studies in 1982 to devote herself to her art. She has always worked on paper, and likes to use the monotype because of the freedom it gives her. Produced using etching inks, often enhanced with pastels, this printing technique lends itself perfectly to her favourite themes: nature, plants and living things.
Afi Nafissy was born in Tehran. After studying interior architecture in Geneva, she decided to devote herself to her passion: painting. In 2006, she switched to intaglio engraving. This exhibition focuses on the world of composition and prints. The paintings explore the tension between shapes, motifs and colours, in search of balance. The etchings play with overlapping patches that transform over the course of the prints, a veritable journey from multiplicity to uniqueness.
