Located in the Bois de Châtel on the heights of Avenches, the Botanical Trail invites the walker to discover different forest species.
The Bois de Châtel has been enriched with a forest botanical trail allowing walkers and interested people to get to know the different forest species. Who would have thought that our forest offers such a variety? In fact, some 60 trees, all of different species, have been given a plaque with their names in French, Latin and German. From then on, the walk goes from discovery to discovery, while enjoying the forest atmosphere.
Each listed tree is flanked by a post bearing the nameplate, which also contains a QR code that can be read with an Android and IOS compatible mobile phone. Reading this code takes you to the Wikipedia website, which provides a wealth of information on the species of the tree, the family to which it belongs, its leaves or needles, its fruit, etc.
